I've taught film for years but I never really found a textbook or workbook I liked. Some resources were too broad including chapters on Charlie Chaplin or Le Voyage Dans La Lune. Others were so narrow and specific they included thoughtful reflections on the merits of tape vs. film.
I was looking for something different. I wanted a workbook of exercises that would take students through the building blocks of making short films. I felt I could teach history where it was relevant and technical skills where it was necessary.
The Filmmaker's Workbook is a massively collaborative and very exciting effort to make a resource for teachers and students who want to learn how to make movies.
We're even shooting a short film The Interrogation in a few weeks to illustrate the principles and tools in the workbook.
Here's where we could use your help!
- If you think this is a cool idea
- If you'd like to get a classroom set of workbooks at a great discount
- If you've always wanted an Executive Producer credit in a film
